On Thursday, April 2nd, the students of 2nd-year Batxillerat E, specializing in performing arts and humanities, had the privilege of participating in an enriching tutorial session with Carme Camacho. This remarkable event was part of the eTwinning project Writing is Fun, an initiative designed to foster creativity and collaboration by inviting a translator or writer to engage with students.
Carme Camacho is an accomplished English teacher who has been associated with this school in various academic years, bringing her expertise and passion for language and literature into the classroom. Her academic journey began at the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where she honed her skills and developed a profound love for linguistic and cultural exchange. Seeking to broaden her horizons, she moved to London, where she completed a master’s degree. During her time there, she immersed herself in the dynamic and multifaceted world of theater, taking on a wide range of roles that deepened her understanding of the performing arts.
Over time, Carme’s professional path led her to become a theatrical translator, a field in which she has made significant contributions. Her translated works have graced the stages of Barcelona’s most prominent theater venues, offering audiences access to diverse narratives and styles. Moreover, she has translated classic 19th-century works into Catalan, preserving and revitalizing timeless literature for a modern audience.
During the session, a vibrant and stimulating conversation unfolded between Carme Camacho and the students. They shared their academic pursuits, artistic ambitions, and personal interests, fostering a meaningful exchange of ideas and experiences. Carme, with her diverse background and expertise, offered valuable insights into the intersections of translation, theater, and literary art, inspiring the students to consider the broader implications of their studies and creative endeavors.
This speech not only provided the students with a unique opportunity to interact with a professional deeply connected to their fields of interest but also emphasized the importance of cultural dialogue and artistic expression. It was a testament to the success of the Writing is Fun project, illustrating how such initiatives can bridge disciplines and ignite intellectual curiosity.
