The 1st-year of the baccalaureate artistic students devoted their tutorial session on Sant Jordi’s Day to reading and discussing poems by Gerard Vergés in British English. During the session, they analysed the texts and compared the original Catalan versions with their English translations, reflecting on nuances, rhythm, and literary devices in both languages.

To carry out the activity, they used the English translation of the poetry collection La insostenible lleugeresa del vers, published as The Unsustainable Lightness of Verse, which allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the author’s work as well as the particularities of literary translation.

L’alumnat de 1r de batxillerat artístic va dedicar l’hora de tutoria del dia de Sant Jordi a la lectura i comentari de poemes de Gerard Vergés en anglès. Durant la sessió, van analitzar els textos i van establir comparacions entre la versió original en català i la seva traducció a l’anglès, reflexionant sobre els matisos, el ritme i els recursos literaris en ambdues llengües.

Per dur a terme l’activitat, van utilitzar la traducció del poemari La insostenible lleugeresa del vers, publicada en anglès com The Unsustainable Lightness of Verse, fet que els va permetre aprofundir tant en la comprensió de l’obra de l’autor com en les particularitats del procés de traducció literària.
