CHRISTMAS NIGHTMARE
On Christmas Eve, snow was falling quietly in the small town. The children were laughing and playing and the air was filled with excitement. However, not everyone was feeling the joy of the season. Kidnappers lurk in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Twelve-year-old Mia and her family had just finished decorating their Christmas tree. Her mother promised to take her to see the Christmas lights later that night. As the time approached seven o’clock in the evening, Mia’s heart began to beat wildly in anticipation. She decided to go for a walk and enjoy the beautiful winter night. The streets were quiet, the only sounds being the crunch of boots on the snow and the distant singing of carols. Mia felt a little uncomfortable, but she pushed the feeling away. Suddenly, she noticed a figure standing near the old playground. The man was tall, wearing a dark coat, and seemed to be looking at her.
—”Hello!” – he shouted in a low and hoarse voice. “Do you need help?”
Mia hesitated. “No, thank you!” – she replied, trying to sound brave. She wanted to leave, but the man came closer.
—”Wait!”I just wanted to give you a present,” he said, reaching into his coat. Mia’s heart began to beat faster. She heard stories about the kidnappers, and every warning from her parents echoed in her head.At this moment, she heard a loud noise behind her. A group of children ran towards the playground laughing and screaming. The man turned to look at them, and at that moment Mia ran back to her house as fast as she could. As soon as she entered, she slammed the door and locked it. Her hands were shaking as she tried to calm herself down. “Mom! There’s a strange person there!” – she shouted into the room with a concerned look on her face.
—”Are you okay, Mia?” she asked, hugging her tightly.
Mia told her about the man and how he scared her. That’s when there was a knock on the door, her mother said, but Mia was shaking with fear.
—Mom, please. Don’t open it! “Mia begged, “What if it’s him? ”
They waited silently, their hearts beating wildly. The knocking continued, getting louder and more persistent. “Open it! It’s Santa Claus!” a voice shouted, but Mia heard something ominous in the applause.
Finally, her mother decided to call the police. As she dialled the number, the knocking stopped and was replaced by one. An eerie silence. Mia looked out the window. The man had disappeared, but the fear remained. A few hours passed and the police arrived, assuring them that the area was safe, but Mia was unable to do so. That Christmas, she learned that not all surprises are happy, and that some shadows are best left uninvited.
That night, as she lay in bed, the soft ringing echoed in her head. As she finally fell asleep, she heard the door creak and realized with horror that the man was back, and this time, he was no longer alone. The last thing Mia saw was a shadow approaching quietly. Her screams were drowned out by the silence of the snowy night. For her family, Christmas will never be the same as they will always remember the child who disappeared that fateful night, leaving only the echo of laughter that turned to silence.
