BURLINGTON CULTURE CLASS
Learning English is connected to a whole world outside the classroom – a world of different English-speaking cultures, which is often hard for students to experience directly.
Last Tuesday October 1 we had the visit of Cristina, a Teacher Trainer from Burlington Books, who introduced students, in a light-hearted but instructive way, to different cultural aspects of the English-speaking world.
She gave 3 different talks:
Dracula
3rd ESO students delved into one of the most important pieces of literature: Dracula. From the real-life count from Transylvania, to the current film adaptations, students learnt all the details about this fascinating story and the world of vampires. Cristina even had some small presents for the most focused listeners!
New York-New York
Both 1st batxillerat groups discovered one of the most famous cities in the world by the hand of Cristina, a New Yorker! She guided the students through the history, origins, geography, boroughs, cultures, languages, food, music and even landmarks of this multicultural city. The students became experts on this topic!
USA road trip
2nd batxillerat students enjoyed a talk about the historic Route 66 highway. Cristina highlighted aspects about America such as US car culture, eating habits, geography and music. The talk was really interactive and students had a great time hearing an American accent from New York City.
