Moon, Jupiter and Venus

Yesterday morning the English-German Department of ESCOLA CIUTAT JARDÍ from Lleida and teachers tutors of the Upper Cycle of Primary  Education organised one class of Astronomy in English for 6th Primary from 9-10:30. And another class with  almost the same content for 5th l

During the class the teacher talked to the pupils in English and some necessary Catalan or Spanish. We hope they could understand and enjoy the class. Did they talk about it at home?

During the class we toll them about

•the Moon, the satellite that was a planet before a crash with the primitive Moon and became a Core-less satellite of our Earth.

• Jupiter, the fifth planet from the Sun, the biggest one of Solar System and the third brightest celestial body in the sky, after the Moon and Venus.

• Venus, the second planet from the Sun, but in spite of being the second one is the HOTTEST PLANET of the Solar System, some 470° Centigrades of average temperature; Mercury, the first one from Sun has an average temperature of 300° C.
It is the HOTTEST PLANET because of a thick and dense atmosphere of carbon dioxide CO2. That’s the greenhouse effect in the atmosphere of our neighbour planet. This is the
UNIVERSAL VERIFICATION of GLOBAL WARMING produced by an excess of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere.

One of the members of English-German Department was lucky enough to take some pictures of the Moon and the visible planets from which the pupils got the Astronomy class in the morning. They thought that sharing this information with the families would be a good way to let everyone know what at School was done for foreign languages and science.

The explanation text was written and  real picture was taken by the  members of the English-German Department of ESCOLA CIUTAT JARDÍ.

The tutorship and language department hope that as much children as families could learn a lot and enjoy together this educational successful activity.
