We watch the video “Rootless algas” by the artist Grimanesa Amorós https://www.grimanesaamoros.com/videos/rootless-algas/ and explain what we see there.
In the video there is some seaweed and then it appears a girl with curly hair. The girl’s hair is like the seaweed, but it is not curly but wavy.
We try to make a description of the girl’s hair and also think about what other hair types there are. Since in our class there aren’t all types of hair we know, we decide to go to the other classes to take pictures of different types of hair.
We try to describe all the types of hair we have found and we realize that we can put different adjectives in it: long, short, medium length…; curly, straight, wavy …; black, grey, blond… We learn that in English to describe hair we have to order these adjectives in a certain way: first the length, then the shape and finally the colour.
We write all the possibilities on the board and each one copies them on a piece of paper.
