We talk in English about the scales and how to use them. We decided to bring things from home so we could weigh them. Rai says that they have to be small because otherwise we won’t be able to put them on the scales. We give some examples but Carla tells us that it would be interesting that although they are small, they should have different weights.
We take the diary to write it down and don’t forget it but Carla wants us to write it down in English. All together we construct the sentence: Bring two little things from home.
To start weighing the objects we brought, Carla asks us what they are called in English. She says that in order to work with them, we have to know their translation in English.
Most of us remember how to say glue and some of us also paint, but we don’t know how to mention the other things.
We decided to look it up in the dictionary and Oriol proposes to take a picture of each object and write its translation underneath.
We played for a while weighing the objects, checking the difference in weight, testing the balance of the scales….
Suddenly Gyda asks Carla how to say heavy and light in English but Carla asks us how we can find out. Noe comments that we could ask at home and we decide to write it down in the diary. Carla reminds us that we have to write it down in English, so we all together construct the question: What is “pesat” and “lleuger” in English?
Once we know how to say heavy and light we decide to make two lists to classify objects according to their weight.
