ENGLISH DAY IN MALLORCA SCHOOL
On 19th May we celebrated the English Day. On that day our students did different kinds of activities.
In the Infants, the children played games in the playground in English. P3, P4 and P5 played games such as: Duck, duck, goose, in which they practised spoken vocabulary such as colours, animals and the weather. They also played a game called Freeze! In which they practised imperatives such as “jump”, “dance”, “run” as well as numbers.
There were two groups in Primary school: A and B
In the morning each class did the daily routines like every day they do with their tutors.
Then Group A made a real English Pancake. First, the students watched a video with their teacher and then they ate together in the classroom. After, they did different writing activities about it. Finally, they drew their own pancake and the teacher chose various pictures for the exhibition.

Group B started to do the English game Gymkhana .This took place in the school playground. The children rotated around the 14 different active learning games.
The 6th level students were the monitors of every game. They always had to explain in English, of course!
The different games were:
- 1, 2, 3, chick English or Freeze
- The colours!
- The scarf
- The twister
- The telephone (with body parts!)
- Simon says….
- Guess the word!
- The Amazing Museum! Answer questions
- Dartboard mathematics
- Big cards
- What object is missing?
- The clothing chain!
- Shopping trolley
- The Preposition Master
After break Group B did a real English Pancake and Group A did the different games

In the afternoon, the whole school gathered on the playground for the English Show. Each year group sang a song that they learned from their classes.
P3 sang the “Daddy Finger Family song”.
P4 sang “If you´re happy and you know it, clap your hands”.
P5 sang “Everybody, shake your body”.
In Primary school, first year sang “Animals everywhere”.
Second year sang a song called “Places”.
Third year sang “I´m so hungry”.
Fourth year sang “Every day we work and play”.
Fifth year sang “Technology time”.
Sixth year sang “We are going to change school”.
At the end of the show, the whole school sang “Yellow Submarine” by The Beatles. All the students learnt choreography for the song, even P3!
