🌍 Learning English to open ourselves to the World

At Escola Josep Orriols i Roca, we understand that learning English is much more than just learning a language: it is about connecting with the world, communicating, and growing as individuals.

That is why we have developed our own model, integrating English naturally and meaningfully into everyday school life, fully aligned with our educational project. Below, we share an infographic that visually presents all the programmes, activities, and key actions that shape our approach:

A coherent and well-aligned project Our model is built on a clear foundation: pedagogical coherence. Our Language Project (PLC), School Educational Project (PEC), and pedagogical leadership work together to ensure:

  • The real integration of English into daily learning.

  • Continuity across all educational stages.

  • A shared vision among the teaching staff.

This allows us to move towards a common goal: meaningful, competency-based English learning connected to students’ real lives.

Learning by doing: CLIL methodology We implement CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), incorporating English into areas such as:

  • Art English: Visual and creative learning.

  • Science: Experimentation, hands-on learning, and scientific thinking.

We use active methodologies that include:

  • Hands-on and experiential activities.

  • Scaffolding strategies to support understanding.

  • Formative assessment and a competency-based approach.

This way, students learn English while exploring, creating, and solving challenges.

Opening the school to the world Internationalisation is a key pillar of our project. We take part in initiatives that connect students with other cultures and realities:

  • eTwinning projects with European schools.

  • Global Scholars programme, with weekly global challenges.

  • Student and teacher mobility experiences (Erasmus+).

  • Shared artistic and cultural projects.

These experiences foster curiosity, respect, and a global mindset.

Speaking to learn: oracy and real communication We place strong emphasis on oral communication by creating real-life opportunities to use English:

  • Sharing to Learn programme, with high school student mentors from Institut Moianès.

  • Language Assistants working in small groups.

  • Communication with schools from other countries through eTwinning and Global Scholars:

    • Student presentations.

    • Exchange of ideas and projects.

    • Real interaction with peers in English.

This helps students use the language with a real purpose, building confidence, fluency, and communication skills.

Organisation that supports learning All of this is made possible thanks to a strong organisational structure:

  • A committed and cohesive teaching team.

  • Teachers with an English language profile (CLIL certified).

  • Weekly coordination and planning time.

  • Mentoring and ongoing professional development programmes.

This ensures quality, continuity, and continuous improvement.

Ultimately, our goal is clear: to help our students become competent communicators, open-minded individuals, and active global citizens.

Thank you for your trust and for being part of this shared project, both from home and through our international partnerships.
