GEP in Action: Projects and Classroom Experiences

The first term has just come to an end, and we feel a sense of a job well done. Our students have worked in their subjects not only to learn the relevant curriculum content but also to reinforce and practise their English.

In the laboratory, they have learnt how to use the microscope, what the scientific method is, and the safety rules. They have also studied the cell.

Filming isn’t just about switching on the equipment and pressing the record button. It’s about knowing where and how to place the camera. It’s about deciding which shot to set up first and which one to leave out. This and much more is what they have been working on in the Film Studies elective subject.

In Music, they have learnt new vocabulary by working on songs such as Yesterday by the Beatles or Rain on Me by Lady Gaga. They have also learned about artists through films such as Bohemian Rhapsody or It’s a Wonderful Life.

Fractions, integer numbers, and algebra are some of the topics covered in the optional Mathematics course. Our students have lost their fear of working together in two of the subjects they find most challenging.

Here is a little taster of what we have been doing over these past few months.

Projectes GEP del primer trimestre

Tanquem el primer trimestre amb la sensació de la feina feta. Els alumnes han treballat des de les diverses optatives per aprendre no només el contingut curricular corresponent sinó per reforçar i posar en pràctica el seu anglès.

Al laboratori han après com utilitzar el microscopi, què és el mètode científic, les normes de seguretat. També han estudiat la cèl·lula.

Grabar no és només encendre el maquinari i donar-li al rec. És saber on posem, i com, la càmera. És decidir quin pla col·locarem primer i de quin pla prescindirem. Això i molt més és el que han estat treballant a l’optativa de cinema.

A Música han après nou vocabulari treballant cançons com Yesterday dels Beatles o Rain on me de Lady Gaga. També hem conegut artistes  a través de pel·lícules com Bohemian Rapsody o A wonderful life.

Fraccions, nombres enters i algebra són alguns dels continguts que s’han tractat a l’optativa de matemàtiques. Els alumnes han perdut la por a treballar conjuntament dues de les matèries que més els costen als alumnes
