On Thursday, 26th January we went to Montfullà water treatment plant to learn about the water system in Girona because in our Global Scholars subject we are working on it. We learned lots of things but some of the most interesting are:
- The water from Montfullà goes not only to Girona but also to the Costa Brava and other towns.
- There are different sized pumps depending on how far the water has to go.
- They showed us through a window the water flowing at one ton per second.
- The water comes from the Pasteral reservoir which is 17km away from Montfullà.
- They use some chemicals to treat the water.
- Only one man controls all the treatment plant computer screens and robots.
- The robots are partly powered by solar panels.
- We saw a graph which showed us the water consumption was very high in the morning and low at night.
