We can find the Bomb Shelter 307 at 175 Nou de la Rambla street.
Nowadays only 3 of the 1300 bomb shelters in Barcelona can be visited.
The bomb shelter 307 was designed by the engineer Ramon Perera in 1937, during the Spanish civil war. It was thought for around a thousand people, but it was never ended. That kind of bomb shelter saved many lives during the war, and other countries like France took them as a model.
It was mostly built by women, children, and elderly people. They worked very hard until they got a safe place to stay during the dangerous bombings.
We saw different services there: toilettes, nursery, surgery room, rehabilitation room, warehouse, etc.
People could stay there for some hours or days. There was also electricity and water inside.
We sat on the cement benches, we saw the walls made of bricks and lime and we could easily feel like the hidden neighbors: they were cold, wet, perhaps hungry, and tired; but above all, they were really frightened.
