Exploring Scotland and the Legend of the Loch Ness Monster

Exploring Scotland and the Legend of the Loch Ness Monster

This week, our Year 4 and Year 5 pupils have been travelling—at least in spirit!—all the way to Scotland. We’ve been learning where Scotland is located on the map and discovering some of the cultural treasures that make it such a fascinating part of the United Kingdom.

One highlight has been diving into one of Scotland’s most famous legends: the Loch Ness Monster. Our pupils loved hearing the mysterious stories about “Nessie”, the creature said to live in the deep waters of Loch Ness. We explored old sightings, discussed why legends are important in different cultures, and even shared our own imaginative ideas about what Nessie might look like.

It’s been a brilliant way to connect language learning with geography, history, and storytelling. Who knew English lessons could take us on such magical adventures?
