Last Friday, on the 17th of April, we celebrated the 2nd English Day of Segrià ZERs in Sudanell. This year, Year 3 students took part in this activity. Although they were one year younger, they adapcted perfectly to the activities organised. They had a great time and enjoyed a sunny day alongside other schools from the Segrià region.
Throughout the day, they practiced English thanks to the different English teachers and interacted with students from the following schools: ZER La Coma, ZER l’Horta de Lleida, ZER l’Argelaga, ZER Alt Segrià, ZER l’Eral, ZER Ponent and ZER l’Oliver.
The main aim of this English Day is to to provide students from different rural schools with the opportunity to enjoy a shared experience in an English-speaking environment. As teachers, our goal is to work cooperatively and create a common space for all participants. We have been preparing this day since the beginning of this school year in order to motivate and engage students to use English during the different games and activities.
The topic of the day was English Day: Language and Culture. We divided the students from all the schools into 10 groups, and each group represented an English-speaking country: New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Kenya, the UK, the USA , Ireland, South Africa, Jamaica and India.
In the morning, we played some Ice Breaker Games (spiderweb and the shooter), different sports games (bodywords, running dictation, hoop race, handkerchief and mime, spell, draw; and practiced some Irish dances with Max Thiemann.
After lunch, they had free time to interact and get to know students from other schools better. Finally, we repeated the Irish dance and gave them a medal to finish the day on a positive mood.
It was a fantastic day where English and social interaction played a key role. We are very proud of the result!!!!! 🌍✨

Divendres passat, dia 17 d’abril, vam celebrar el 2n English Day de les ZERs del Segrià a Sudanell. Aquest any hi van participar els alumnes de 3r. Tot i ser un any més petits, es van adaptar perfectament a les activitats organitzades. S’ho van passar molt bé i van gaudir d’un dia assolellat amb altres escoles de la comarca del Segrià.
Al llarg del dia, van practicar anglès gràcies als diferents mestres d’anglès i van interactuar amb alumnes de les següents escoles: ZER La Coma, ZER l’Horta de Lleida, ZER l’Argelaga, ZER Alt Segrià, ZER l’Eral, ZER Ponent i ZER l’Oliver.
L’objectiu principal d’aquesta English Day és oferir als alumnes de diferents escoles rurals l’oportunitat de gaudir d’una experiència compartida en un entorn d’anglès. Com a mestres, el nostre objectiu és treballar de manera cooperativa i crear un espai comú per a tots els participants. Hem estat preparant aquest dia des de l’inici del curs escolar per tal de motivar i implicar els alumnes a utilitzar l’anglès durant els diferents jocs i activitats.
La temàtica del dia va ser English Day: Llengua i Cultura. Vam dividir els alumnes de totes les escoles en 10 grups, i cada grup representava un país de parla anglesa: Nova Zelanda, Austràlia, Canadà, Kenya , el Regne Unit, els Estats Units , Irlanda, Sud-àfrica , Jamaica i l’Índia.
Al matí, vam realitzar diversos jocs de presentació (la teranyinar i el pistoler), diferents jocs esportius (fer el nom dels esports amb el cos, córrer per agafar la paraula correcta, saltar als cércols per escriure bé la paraula, el mocador i mímica, lletrejar i dibuixar); i vam practicar algunes danses irlandeses amb en Max Thiemann.
Després de dinar, van tenir temps lliure per interactuar i conèixer millor l’alumnat d’altres escoles. Finalment, vam repetir la dansa irlandesa i els vam donar una medalla per acabar el dia amb un ambient positiu.
Va ser un dia fantàstic en què l’anglès i la interacció social van tenir un paper clau. Estem molt satisfets amb el resultat!!!!! 🌍✨
