El dilluns dia 20 d’octubre el nostre alumnat de 3r d’ESO i el de 2n de batxillerat va tenir l’oportunitat d’assistir a dues xerrades diferents sobre dos temes molt interessants: Ghost and Legends i USA road trip.
La xerrada sobre Ghost and Legends es va centrar en temes recurrents en alguns llibrets de lectura de l’editorial, des d’alguns fantasmes ben coneguts fins a algunes de les llegendes més populars de la Gran Bretanya. Les persones que hi van participar van tenir l’oportunitat d’ampliar el seu vocabulari i els seus coneixements sobre tota mena de coses espantoses i misterioses.
En Thor, el conferenciant de la xerrada adreçada a 2n de batxillerat, va parlar sobre l’USA road trip i, gràcies a les seves explicacions, vam poder conèixer i gaudir de la històrica Ruta 66, així com també descobrir la cultura dels cotxes nord-americans, els hàbits alimentaris del país i assabentar-nos dels millors allotjaments. Finalment, vam fer una gira musical pels Estats Units d’Amèrica i vam descobrir les arrels geogràfiques de diferents gèneres musicals.
La participació a aquestes xerrades va servir per potenciar l’anglès a classe i d’aprendre els aspectes culturals d’altres països de parla anglesa.
Esperem que el nostre alumnat gaudís de l’activitat tant com nosaltres.
Last Monday October 20th our 3rd ESO students and 2nd batxillerat students had the opportunity to attend two different talks regarding two topics: GHOST AND LEGENDS (3rd ESO) and USA ROAD TRIP (2nd batxillerat).
The first talk about “Ghost and Legeds” focused on themes from various Burlington Readers. From some of the better-known phantoms to Britain’s most popular legends, the students will have the opportunity to expand their vocabulary and knowledge on all things scary and mysterious.
Whereas the second talk was addressed to 2nd batxillerat and dealt with USA ROAD TRIP. Thanks to Thor (our lecturer), we travelled along the historic route 66 highway. Along the way we found out about American car culture, eating habits and the best places to stay. Finally, we took on a musical tour of the whole country, discovering the geographical roots of different musical genres.
Therefore, these two talks were a good way to boost English in class and learn the cultural aspects of other English speaking countries. We hope that our students loved them as much as we did.
