From Monday, 10 November to Sunday 16 November, thirteen students from 2nd and 3rd year of ESO along with two teachers took part in the Erasmus+ Project and went on an exchange with Gymnasium 6 School in Kavala (Greece).
Below is a brief overview of our stay in Greek lands:
On Monday, 10 November 2025 we had a long day travelling to our host city, where we finally met our Greek partners. Upon arrival, all the families and teachers gave us a warm welcome, and everyone went home with their host families.
On Tuesday, 11 November 2025 we took part in several activities that allowed us to get to know the town a little bit better, as well as their traditions, and the school. We also did group cohesion and bonding activities with the Greek team (a game with Catalan and Greek words), and we discovered the host school through a guided tour led by the students. These were engaging and fun activities that helped us get to know each other better.
On Wednesday, 12 November 2025 we took part in some workshops on EU youth policies -we worked on European awareness and learned and rehearsed traditional Greek and Catalan dances: the Sirtaki and the Polca d’ours. They both were enjoyable activities that brought us even closer together as a group.
On Thursday, 13 November 2025 our Greek partners took us on a cultural tour of the beautiful city of Kavala: we walked along the Via Egnatia, a natural setting full of history; we visited the important town hall —where we were welcomed by the deputy mayor—, the tobacco factory (a very important industry in the area), the lovely castle and the aqueduct, all witnesses to Byzantine, Ottoman and modern Greek history.
On Friday, 14 November 2025 we travelled to Thessaloniki, where we explored the Roman past of this city thanks to an expert-guided tour. We were amazed by The Arch of Triumph and Emperor Galerius’ Rotunda with its Roman reliefs and Byzantine mosaics in all their splendour. Afterwards, we continued walking towards the Galerius Palace area, the port, and the White Tower of Ottoman origin.
In the afternoon, we visited the Olympic Museum, where we took part in activities related to sports science and the history of the Olympic Games. The day ended with a lovely shared meal with our Greek partners—a moment of togetherness we will always recall.
On Saturday, 15 November 2025 morning, we had free time with the host families and our classmates. In the afternoon, we all met again—students, teachers, and families—at the school, where they had prepared a beautiful evening of Greek and Catalan dances, homemade dishes brought by the families, and a very emotional ceremony filled with final awards and gifts.
On Sunday 16 November 2025 very early in the morning, we took the bus to the airport. The last goodbye and the farewell hugs with our Greek partners were intense, but we know we will meet again in March in Catalonia.
It has been a week full of learning, emotions, and excitement. An experience that has helped our students grow, thanks to all the activities prepared with such care and professionalism by the Greek team, who accompanied us in every step of this unforgettable exchange.
See you very soon, we will meet again in March in Santpedor!!
