Celebrating Saint George in the English Area! 🌹🐉
In the Early Years English area at our school, we have been celebrating the arrival of Saint George’s Day to explore this special tradition with our I3, I4 and I5 students, combining creativity, language and culture.
Our youngest students in I3 really enjoyed a meaningful art activity: they stamped their hands to create a beautiful rose, connecting with one of the most representative symbols of this celebration.
In I4, students created their own knight shields, immersing themselves in the world of the legend while learning English vocabulary related to the characters and elements of the story.
As for I5, the children made a hanging decoration for their doors: a craft featuring Saint George and the princess, along with the message “Happy Saint George!”. This activity was a very motivating way to bring the English language into their daily lives.
In addition to the art activities, all groups watched stories and listened to songs in English related to the legend. This helped them improve their listening skills and also discover that Saint George is celebrated in many English-speaking countries and other parts of the world, not only in Catalonia.
It has been a very enriching experience that allowed us to learn English in a meaningful way, while connecting with a tradition that is both local and global.

Celebrem Saint George a l’àrea d’anglès! 🌹🐉
A l’àrea d’anglès a Infantil de l’escola hem celebrat l’arribada de la festivitat de Saint George per treballar aquesta tradició tan especial amb els infants d’I3, I4 i I5, combinant creativitat, llengua i cultura.
Els més petits, d’I3, han gaudit molt realitzant una activitat artística molt significativa: han estampat la seva mà per crear una bonica rosa, connectant així amb un dels símbols més representatius d’aquesta diada.
A I4, els alumnes han elaborat el seu propi escut de cavaller, tot endinsant-se en l’imaginari de la llegenda i treballant vocabulari en anglès relacionat amb els personatges i elements de la història.
Pel que fa als infants d’I5, han creat una manualitat per penjar a les portes de casa: una composició amb Saint George i la princesa, acompanyada del missatge “Happy Saint George!”. Aquesta activitat ha estat una manera molt motivadora d’apropar la llengua anglesa al seu dia a dia.
A més de les activitats plàstiques, a totes les edats hem visualitzat històries i escoltat cançons en anglès relacionades amb la llegenda. Això ens ha permès no només treballar la comprensió oral, sinó també descobrir que Saint George és una festivitat que es celebra en diversos països de parla anglesa i en altres llocs del món, no només a Catalunya.
Ha estat una experiència molt enriquidora que ens ha ajudat a aprendre anglès d’una manera significativa, tot connectant amb una tradició propera i, alhora, global.
