Un grup de 6 docents agosarades de l\u2019Institut de Lli\u00e7\u00e0, amb l\u2019Albert Alicarte com a director, van acceptar la proposta de tirar endavant amb un nou centre, anomenat inicialment \u201cLli\u00e7\u00e0 2\u201d. Cap a finals del 1r curs es va escollir el nom definitiu entre diferents propostes, i ja l\u2019any seg\u00fcent el centre va passar a anomenar-se <b>Institut Hip\u00e0tia d\u2019Alexandria,<\/b> en homenatge a la cient\u00edfica nascuda al S.IV a Egipte.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019Institut va arrencar amb for\u00e7a i molt d\u2019entusiasme, malgrat estar ubicats a un edifici petit, sense gaire recursos ni instal\u00b7lacions. Amb aquesta primera promoci\u00f3 v\u00e0rem engegar projectes diversos, activitats com ara la festa esportiva interinstituts a 3r, i tamb\u00e9 es van establir els viatges de 3r i 4t d\u2019ESO.<\/p>\n<p>Quan els nois i noies d\u2019aquesta promoci\u00f3 feien 3r, l\u2019Hip\u00e0tia va viatjar per primer cop a l\u2019estranger, m\u00e9s en concret a Dubl\u00edn (Irlanda), una experi\u00e8ncia totalment inoblidable que va marcar els futurs viatges de 3r de l\u2019Hip\u00e0tia.
