Concretament, han descobert una variable eclipsant a prop de l&#8217;estrella Altair. Aquest astre (que ja era conegut per\u00f2 no pas com a variable) \u00e9s visible des de la Terra amb una brillantor semblant a la de Plut\u00f3. En aquest cas, es tracta d&#8217;una estrella doble, que pot ser vista des de la Terra en el moment que una de les estrelles passa pel davant o pel darrere de l&#8217;altra, la qual cosa provoca un increment o un decreixement de la seva brillantor, que pot ser detectat des de la Terra.
