Es caracteritza per estructurar-se en fines l\u00e0mines que es trenquen de manera irregular i en paral\u2022lel Un esquist \u00e9s una roca cristal\u2022lina metam\u00f2rfica d&#8217;estructura fullada i que pot dividir-se al llarg de plans aproximadament paral\u2022lels. En l&#8217;esquist els grans minerals poden veure&#8217;s a ull nu. La caracter\u00edstica textura esquamosa de l&#8217;esquist ha donat lloc a l&#8217;adjectiu esquist\u00f3s. Dins l&#8217;esquist hi predominen minerals com la mica, la clorita, el talc, l&#8217;hornblenda, grafit i altres. El quars es troba sovint en grans estirats cap a l&#8217;extrem. Per definici\u00f3, l&#8217;esquist cont\u00e9 m\u00e9s d&#8217;un 50% de minerals plans i allargats, sovint finament intercalat amb quars i feldspat. Presenta laminaci\u00f3 ondulada, i els cristalls, a difer\u00e8ncia dels de la pissarra, s\u00f3n perceptibles a ull nu. Molts d&#8217;aquests minerals s\u00f3n de mica, cosa que proporciona a l&#8217;esquist una brillantor intensa. Quan la roca sedimentaria \u00e9s sotmeia a molta calor i presi\u00f3 es transforma en Roca Metamorfiqua<\/p>\n<h6><strong>FORMACI\u00d3<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>La majoria de l&#8217;esquist procedeix amb tota probabilitat d&#8217;argiles i fangs que han patit una s\u00e8rie de processos metam\u00f2rfics incloent la producci\u00f3 de pissarres i filites com a passos intermedis. Certs esquists procedeixen de roques \u00edgnies de gra fi com basalts i tobas. A la imatge podem veure un esquist metam\u00f2rfic que esta format per llamines, el seu tacte es molt rogos.<br \/>\nLa seva \u00e9poca geol\u00f2gica<br \/>\n\u00c9s una roca mancat d&#8217;inter\u00e8s econ\u00f2mic. El seu \u00fas s&#8217;ha limitat a la seva utilitzaci\u00f3 com a pedra de ma\u00e7oneria en algunes zones rurals. Quan en ells s&#8217;han localitzat grans exemplars de minerals (granats, andalusita, distena, estaurolita, etc.) amb inter\u00e8s econ\u00f2mic per a decoraci\u00f3 o col\u2022leccionisme, s&#8217;han explotat amb aquests fins.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6><strong>LOCALITZACI\u00d3<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>Molts fonaments d&#8217;edificis constru\u00efts en els anys 1920 i 1930 a la zona de la ciutat de Nova York van usar esquists i pateixen aquest problema. Les parets de roca decoratives en cases de la zona tamb\u00e9 van usar un esquist anomenat \u00abpedra de Yonkers\u00bb que ja no es troba. Aquest esquist era especialment dur i tenia un color bastant homogeni.
