La pedra calc\u00e0ria t\u00e9 molts usos. \u00c9s un ingredient de la producci\u00f3 del ciment, del morter, del ferro i de l&#8217;acer, de productes de neteja i del vidre. S&#8217;usa en xemeneies i pot ser perfeccionat per la rajola de pisos.<br \/>\nTanmateix \u00e9s utilitzada en la construcci\u00f3 de enrocaments per a obres mar\u00edtimes i portu\u00e0ries com esculleres, espigons, esculleres entre altres estructures d&#8217;estabilitzaci\u00f3 i protecci\u00f3. La roca calc\u00e0ria \u00e9s un component important del ciment gris usat en les construccions modernes.<\/p>\n<h6><strong>LLOC D\u2019ORIGEN<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>Gombr\u00e8n \u00e9s un municipi catal\u00e0 de la comarca del Ripoll\u00e8s. Anomenat tamb\u00e9 popularment Gombreny per influ\u00e8ncia de l&#8217;antiga parr\u00f2quia de Montgrony, va ser la denominaci\u00f3 oficial fins al 1984. Prov\u00e9 de l&#8217;antrop\u00f2nim germ\u00e0nic Gomesind.<br \/>\nUbicaci\u00f3:<br \/>\nAl l\u00edmit amb la comarca del Bergued\u00e0, de la qual la separa l&#8217;Arija i els seus afluents el torrent del Coll de la Bona i el rec del Roquerol, compr\u00e8n el sector de cap\u00e7alera del riu Merd\u00e0s, territori molt accidentat, format per diverses valls entre altres serralades i escasses planures.<br \/>\nPoble:<br \/>\n\u00c9s un municipi eminentment rural i menestral, per\u00f2 compta tamb\u00e9 amb algunes petites ind\u00fastries. El poble de Gombr\u00e8n, a la vall del riu Merd\u00e0s o canal de Gombr\u00e8n, entre els massissos de Mongrony i de Puigb\u00f2, d\u00f3na nom i centra el municipi.
