D. Erasmus Policy Statement (Overall Strategy)

The Institution agrees to publish this overall strategy on its website within one month after the signature of
the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education by the European Commission.

Please describe your institution’s international (EU and non-EU) strategy. In your description please explain a)
how you choose your partners, b) in which geographical area(s) and c) the most important objectives and
target groups of your mobility activities (with regard to staff and students in first, second and third cycles,
including study and training, and short cycles). If applicable, also explain how your institution participates in the
development of double/multiple/joint degrees:

Can Vilumara Secondary School is located in Hospitalet de Llobregat, a city to the immediate southwest of Barcelona. It has got an heterogeneous population, with a wide range of social, cultural and economic characteristics. The school is suffering the consequences of the country’s socio-economic context, which causes more complex and vulnerable family structures and a more important loss, the importance of education. Given this situation, and taking into account that Vilumara School attends to 329 students of ESO, 111 of higher secondary-education and 490 of Vocational and Education Training (VET), the new management school team has decided to bet on different projects to motivate students and their respective families in the value of education. They have launched several programs, among them is the experimental Group Multilinguistic GEP and the Erasmus +.
The Erasmus Charter will allow us to improve our teaching strategy through the transnational mobility of students and teachers. It will also have a different perspective of the working world , different from the one we know in our country. It will provide the knowledge of other cultures and languages and obviously, will enhance the personal and professional competences, which we consider relevant aspects in the training of students who will be given the opportunities to adapt to different situations and socialcontexts in the future.

The objectives that we set up to 2020 are:

  • Acquire experience in transnational mobility by sending at least 1 or 2 students per year.
  • Promote the mobility of teaching staff to improve language skills and cultural activities.
These goals will be reviewed every two years, extending them as much as possible. In order to promote that the
experience spreads to the rest of the students and teachers, we will prompt the students and teachers who have
participated in the experience that they present it to the rest of the education community of the school.
In relation to the groups involved in mobility:
  • Regarding the mobility of teachers, they will be selected by their seniority and continuity in the school, their level of motivation, as well as their level of the language of the country where they want to go.
  • In relation to the students of vocational training, they will be selected those who:
  • Are motivated to participate in this experience.
  • Have the academic requirements accomplished, that is to say, those who have completed 80% of theoretical modules ot the cycle, as in our case the stay would be focused on the Compulsory In-company training.
  • Have shown maturity and responsibility throughout the training process in the school.
  • Have passed the language test required to participate in the programme.

These students will make the module of Compulsory In-company Training in companies that will be selected from among those provided by the Chamber of Commerce of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, the mobility Coordinator and the tutors of students. The choice of our international partners will be based on that fulfilment of the basic requirements to provide a good education to our students and faculty. Therefore, previously we will have contacted and visited the company to make sure your interest in our students and agree on the work plan of the students who are going to make the Compulsory Incompany Training in your working centres.

With regard to the geographical area to carry out the training, we would start with the region of Bolognia in Italy, as we have got good references of a previous experience from a teacher in our school. Based on the results, we will extend the geographical boundaries of the European Union countries of English-speaking and French in order to link the Erasmus program with the GEP.

The school is adapted to the new ICT technologies, so that it has the necessary infrastructure in order to facilitate the proper follow-up with students who participate in the Erasmus project. To do this follow up, apart from using the sBid program that marks the Department of Education, the school will use the media such as the mail or skype to do follow-up with the student and the tutor of the company.

Erasmus Charter will allow us open the door at the european dimention. This will facilitate increasing attainment levels for our students and teachers. We believe that mobility in training processes is a fundamental strategy that allow people involved to improve their professional and personal skills, as well as improve their employability and language skills.

For this reason, Can Vilumara Higher School is promoting mobility and cross-border cooperation. We are committed to the mobility of students and teachers as one of the fundamental tools for the updating of education and the improvement of education quality.
