The school opened in the academic year 2011-12. Today we host about 700 students and 57 teachers. We offer secondary studies of compulsory education (aged 12-16) and &#8220;Batxillerat&#8221; studies (aged 16-18) equivalent to A-levels.<\/p>\n<p>Our motto is &#8220;quality is achieved by people working together&#8221;. It&#8217;s our goal to make teachers, students, parents and community work together for success. Our aim at Institut Torrent dels Alous is for all students to achieve their potential and enable them to get the best preparation for their future choices.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><span lang=\"CA\">Our main strength is a team of commited teachers devoted to their students and a tutorial guidance and compromise based on two main aspects: academic support and personality and social development.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"CA\">Our main <strong>objectives<\/strong> are focused on:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"CA\">1) INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS, <\/span><\/b><span lang=\"CA\">making sure that every student develops their own potenti<\/span><span lang=\"CA\">al<\/span><b> <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"CA\">2) SKILLS FOR THE WORLD, <\/span><\/b><span lang=\"CA\">insisting on <\/span><span lang=\"CA\">the practical aspects of science, maths and technology and communication<\/span><span lang=\"CA\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"CA\">3) LANGUAGES, <\/span><\/b><span lang=\"CA\">insisting on written and oral skills and <\/span><span lang=\"CA\">the mastery of foregin languages<\/span><b> <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"CA\">4) TECHNOLOGY <\/span><\/b><span lang=\"CA\">integr<\/span><span lang=\"CA\">ated in class, communication with families, website<\/span><span lang=\"CA\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"CA\">5) CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION <\/span><\/b><span lang=\"CA\">with the implementation of different projects to promote values and the pleasure for art and music<\/span><b><span lang=\"CA\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Our projects and activities<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Teaching-learning methodology:\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>Mixed methodology: materials and class program created\u00a0 by teachers. Programmes based on a practical learning process combining new technologies with other educational supports.<\/li>\n<li>Cross-curricular projects and Topic-based mini-projects in several subjects<\/li>\n<li>Tandem-teaching<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Foreign languages (English, French, German):\n<ul>\n<li>English: CLIL Science, final school trip to a foreign country<\/li>\n<li>French as a second language: EMILE Social Sciences, trips to France, Preparation for Official Examinations<\/li>\n<li>German as a second language. Etwinning Project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Projects with the Community:\n<ul>\n<li>A day with the school Ca n&#8217;Oriol for teenagers with special needs<\/li>\n<li><em>Barris<\/em> (&#8220;Neighbourhoods&#8221;): working together with the city council for the improvement of the school environment and community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Citizenship Projects:\n<ul>\n<li>Transversal and mixed-levels artistic project: every year we prepare a life performance of a great exhibition or show created by students from different levels (1st to 3rd of ESO, aged 12-15)<\/li>\n<li>Project \u201cCircle of Friends&#8221; and &#8220;Peer Guidance&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Health: promoting sport and healthy eating habits<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Projects:\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Green School Activities&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Science Project:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>International Projects: Partner School in Denmark and Germany. School exchange with Germany.
