According to the dictionary, the definition of \u201cracism\u201d is\u00a0the discrimination or the antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.<\/p>\n
For us, it\u2019s a pretty accurate description of the word. When you think of racism, you only think about black people, but they aren\u2019t the only ones that suffer from discrimination. However, being racist is not always meant to be a physical harassment, but it can also be psychological: the laws that are detrimental to somebody, the pejorative names we give some races, euphemisms or direct insults.<\/p>\n

We are the social branch of 4th of ESO, and we have done a project about this topic, called \u201cBlack Lives Matter\u201d. Our purpose while working on it was to learn and raise awareness of this problem, that hasn\u2019t been fully solved yet. Apart from the speech, we wanted to add an artistic part to it, so the message could be shown in a more visual way.<\/p>\n
On the 21st of March 1960, 69 black people were murdered by the police in the USA while they were doing a demonstration. It was an important event, and since then this day has been the international day of elimination against racial discrimination.<\/p>\n

Racism is a problem that has been around in our civilization for a long time. The European colonists played an important role in the creation of the discrimination of other races, and to this date it has been normalized to tolerate bigotry.<\/p>\n
Against this narrow-mindedness, some people appeared\u00a0 that fought to change things, both violently and peacefully. Some of these important people were Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, Barbara Jordan, Henry \u201cBox\u201d Brown, Harriet Tubman, among others.<\/p>\n

Nowadays, and as we mentioned earlier, racism around the world is still very present, although politicians try to cover it up. We think society won\u2019t admit it, because it has been established that it is not politically correct. To prove that, 75% of black people suffer from racism in Spain alone. Imagine around the whole world. It might be because people are very reserved, but we think most of the cases are because people simply don\u2019t like to be with other races. In other words, they are racist.<\/p>\n

The situation has changed a lot since some decades ago. Nevertheless, we still have to work on it, for a better future, a better society and a better place to live.<\/p>\n

Segons el diccionari, la definici\u00f3 de \u201cracisme\u201d \u00e9s\u00a0doctrina que propugna la inferioritat d’unes races o \u00e8tnies humanes respecte a les altres, en virtut de la qual se’n justifica la discriminaci\u00f3, la segregaci\u00f3 social, l’explotaci\u00f3 econ\u00f2mica, etc. Actitud o comportament inspirats en aquesta doctrina.<\/p>\n
Per a nosaltres, \u00e9s una descripci\u00f3 for\u00e7a precisa de la paraula. Quan penses en el racisme, nom\u00e9s pensem en les persones negres, per\u00f2 no s\u00f3n les \u00faniques que pateixen discriminaci\u00f3. Aix\u00ed i tot, ser racista no sempre vol dir assetjament f\u00edsic, sin\u00f3 que tamb\u00e9 pot ser psicol\u00f2gic: les lleis que s\u00f3n perjudicials per a alg\u00fa, els noms pejoratius que donem a algunes races, els eufemismes o els insults directes.<\/p>\n
Som l\u2019alumnat de l\u2019itinerari social de 4t d\u2019ESO, i hem fet un projecte sobre aquest tema, anomenat \u201cBlack Lives Matter\u201d. El nostre prop\u00f2sit mentre hi treballavem era aprendre i conscienciar sobre aquest problema, que encara no s\u2019ha resolt completament. A part del discurs, vol\u00edem afegir una part art\u00edstica per tal que el missatge es pogu\u00e9s mostrar de manera m\u00e9s visual. El 21 de mar\u00e7 de 1960, 69 persones negres van ser assassinades per la policia als Estats Units mentre feien una manifestaci\u00f3. Va ser un esdeveniment important, i des de llavors aquest dia ha estat el Dia Internacional per a l’Eliminaci\u00f3 de la Discriminaci\u00f3 Racial.<\/p>\n
El racisme \u00e9s un problema que fa molt temps que existeix en la nostra civilitzaci\u00f3. Els colonitzadors europeus van jugar un paper important en la creaci\u00f3 de la discriminaci\u00f3 envers altres races, i fins a dia d\u2019avui s\u2019ha normalitzat la intoler\u00e0ncia cap a altres races. Contra aquesta mentalitat tancada, van apar\u00e8ixer algunes persones que van lluitar per canviar les coses, tant de manera violenta com pac\u00edfica. Avui dia, i com hem mencionat abans, el racisme al m\u00f3n segueix sent molt present, tot i que els pol\u00edtics intenten amagar-ho. Creiem que la societat no ho admet perqu\u00e8 s’ha establert que no \u00e9s pol\u00edticament correcte, per\u00f2 continua sent racista. Per demostrar-ho, el 75% de les persones negres pateixen racisme nom\u00e9s a Espanya. Imagina\u2019t a tot el m\u00f3n. Potser \u00e9s perqu\u00e8 la gent \u00e9s molt reservada, per\u00f2 creiem que la majoria dels casos s\u00f3n perqu\u00e8 a la gent simplement no els agrada estar amb altres races. En altres paraules, s\u00f3n racistes.<\/p>\n
