Hostilities formally ended \"at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month\".\u00a0The First World War officially ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles\u00a0on 28 June 1919.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/agora.xtec.cat\/iesroquetes\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu997\/2017\/11\/poppy.png\"><img class=\"alignnone wp-image-7469 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/agora.xtec.cat\/iesroquetes\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu997\/2017\/11\/poppy.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"217\" height=\"232\" \/><\/a>\r\n<div class=\"container\">\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-xs-12\">\r\n<div class=\"heading\">\r\n<h2>THE STORY OF THE POPPY<\/h2>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<section class=\"module rte-output\">\r\n<div class=\"container-fluid\">\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\r\n\r\nIn the spring of 1915, shortly after losing a friend in Ypres, a Canadian doctor, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae was inspired by the sight of poppies growing in battle-scarred fields to write a now famous poem called 'In Flanders Fields'.
