Halloween!

This year the students had some really fun and creative designs for the Halloween door decorating contest. Deciding which ones were my favourite was almost impossible, and I walked down all of the hallways in the institute just to make sure I didn´t miss a single one! Halloween is a popular celebration in Canada, and related activities have always been a big part of Autumn for me ever since I was a kid. We would wear costumes to school on Halloween day almost every year. Now that I am older, going trick-or-treating isn´t as interesting to me as it once was. My English classes talked about other aspects of Halloween as well as unique local traditions from my region. I was happy to see that many of the students here understand the importance of their own local traditions, and in different class activities they explained to me about lots of special autumn celebrations in Catalonia. I may not have gotten to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters this year, but eating roasted chestnuts was even better.
