{"id":3495,"date":"2017-03-30T17:48:10","date_gmt":"2017-03-30T15:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/agora.xtec.cat\/iespereborrellpuigcerda\/?p=3495"},"modified":"2017-04-17T18:27:16","modified_gmt":"2017-04-17T16:27:16","slug":"shrove-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/agora.xtec.cat\/iespereborrellpuigcerda\/eso\/shrove-tuesday\/","title":{"rendered":"Shrove Tuesday and Pancake Races"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Shrove Tuesday and Pancake Races<\/strong><br \/>\nThe week from 27th February to 3rd March, from the Department of Foreign Languages at INS Pere Borrell, we recreated a typical and ancient English tradition which is held in the UK right on the day before Ash Wednesday: Shrove Tuesday, which originally established the first day of lent. This old custom consists, first, in cooking pancakes \u2013prepared with eggs, milk and butter\u2013 and then doing races with a frying pan with which they have to toss the pancakes. The participants should also wear some kind of disguise. And there you have it: the so called Pancake Races.<br \/>\nWe didn\u2019t cook any pancakes at all, instead we used some non-eatable substitutes, but we did take advantage of the occasion to practice some English, run races, tossing pancakes with the frying pans and have a good time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Shrove Tuesday and Pancake Races&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\nLa setmana del 27 de febrer al 3 de mar\u00e7 des del departament d\u2019angl\u00e8s de l\u2019INS Pere Borrell vam recrear un t\u00edpica tradici\u00f3 anglesa que se celebra al Regne Unit justament el dia abans del dimecres de cendra: el Shrove Tuesday (que seria com el Dimarts de confessi\u00f3) i que originalment marcava l\u2019inici de la quaresma. La tradici\u00f3 consisteix en coure pancakes \u2013els pancakes s\u00f3n com una coca prima a base d\u2019ou, llet i mantega, semblant a les crepes\u2013 i despr\u00e9s fer curses fent saltar les pancakes de la paella. I a tot aix\u00f2 se li suma una disfressa. El resultat s\u00f3n les Pancake Races (curses de coques).<br \/>\nNosaltres no vam coure pancakes, vam utilitzar uns substituts no comestibles, per\u00f2 s\u00ed que vam aprofitar l\u2019estona per practicar angl\u00e8s, fer curses i fer saltar les coques de paella en paella i passar una bona estona.<\/p>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\" style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0\r\n\t<div
