Where, after all, do universal rights begin? In small places, close to home \u2013 so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world. Yet they are the world of the individual person; the neighborhood he lives in; the school or college he attends; the factory, farm or office where he works. Such are the places where every man, woman, and child seeks equal justice, equal opportunity, equal dignity without discrimination. Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere. Without concerned citizen action to uphold them close to home, we shall look in vain for progress in the larger world.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00abAl cap i a la fi, on comencen els drets universals? En llocs petits, a prop de casa, tan a prop i tan petits que no es poden veure en cap mapa del m\u00f3n. Tot i aix\u00ed, s\u00f3n el m\u00f3n de la persona; el barri on viu; l’escola o la universitat a la qual assisteix; la f\u00e0brica, granja o oficina on treballa. Aquests s\u00f3n els llocs on tots els homes, dones i nens busquen la mateixa just\u00edcia, la mateixa oportunitat i la mateixa dignitat sense discriminaci\u00f3. A no ser que aquests drets tinguin un significat all\u00e0, tenen poc significat enlloc.
