El seu nom, <em>La Mallola,<\/em>\u00a0ve donat de la zona on est\u00e0 situat l\u2019institut. Un \u201cmallol\u201d \u00e9s una zona de cultiu de vinyes petites i joves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">L\u2019Institut va comen\u00e7ar el curs 1984-1985 amb el nom Esplugues II com una extensi\u00f3 de l\u2019Institut Joanot Martorell. Aleshores ocupava un edifici i uns barracons propietat de l\u2019escola Garb\u00ed situats al darrera de l\u2019institut Joanot Martorell.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Va comen\u00e7ar amb 10 grups de primer de BUP i durant dos cursos tot el professorat va ser inter\u00ed o en comissi\u00f3 de serveis. El curs 1986-1987 hi va haver concurs de trasllats i la plantilla de l\u2019institut es va consolidar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Durant el segon trimestre del curs 1990-1991 es va fer el trasllat de l\u2019institut al nou edifici on es troba en la actualitat. Encara que la zona est\u00e0 urbanitzada, tenim el privilegi d\u2019estar rodejats d\u2019un parc i de zones verdes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Actualment comptem amb m\u00e9s de 50 professors, i gaireb\u00e9 600 alumnes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">A LA MALLOLA, FORMEM PERSONES!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" align=\"left\">Un centre comprom\u00e8s en el desenvolupament integral dels joves per\u00a0dotar-los de les eines necess\u00e0ries per al seu futur.
