A few days ago a girl named Nonna visited us for the first time in the English class. She is our Language Assistant; she is from Namibia, a country in southwestern Africa. Nonna is a girl who likes to travel a lot, she has visited many countries. Right now, she is here, in Catalonia, because she is studying a master’s degree in Girona.
She explained to us that Namibia has an area of 824,295 km² but only has a population of 2.479.713inhabitants. The capital of Namibia is Windhoek. The most popular sport in Namibia is football, but rugby and cricket are also practiced. Nonna also explained to us that Namibia is one of the sunniest countries in the world. Nonna reminded us that Namibia also has many prominent National Parks, the oldest, most visited and best known is Etosha Pan.
Also, the lagoon and harbor is home to various species and large numbers of sea mammals and bird life. The Namib Desert on the other side is called “The Living Desert”, because of the large number of living species found there.
