La posada en marxa d\u00b4un Institut d\u00b4ensenyament p\u00fablic a Vic venia a omplir un espai que fins aleshores estava absorbit per l\u00b4escola privada, de llarga tradici\u00f3 a la ciutat, i , alhora, responia a una doble necessitat: fer front al creixement de la poblaci\u00f3 estudiantil\u00a0 de la d\u00e8cada dels seixanta i donar resposta a la demanda social d\u00b4ensenyament p\u00fablic.<\/p>\n<p>Atenent aquesta necessitat, l\u00b4Institut de Vic, el \u201cJaume Call\u00eds\u201d, denominaci\u00f3 autoritzada el 1969, esdevindr\u00e0 fins a mitjans dels anys 80 \u00a0l\u00b4\u00fanic centre p\u00fablic oficial de refer\u00e8ncia per als estudis de batxillerat i COU de les comarques d\u00b4Osona, Ripoll\u00e8s i part del Bages en r\u00e8gim di\u00fcrn i nocturn. I fins a temps recents, l\u00b4\u00fanic centre amb estudis nocturns. Justament, l\u00b4exist\u00e8ncia d\u00b4aquest r\u00e8gim d\u00b4estudis oferir\u00e0, ja des del 1r curs, per mobilitzaci\u00f3 sorgida des dels propis alumnes interessats, l\u00b4oportunitat de cursar estudis de batxillerat a alumnes que per motius laborals no podien estudiar al torn di\u00fcrn. Centenars i centenars d\u00b4alumnes van veure obertes vies de promoci\u00f3 personal i de continu\u00eftat cap a estudis superiors despr\u00e9s de passar per les aules del \u201cCall\u00eds\u201d o de \u00a0\u00a0\u201cl\u00b4Institut\u201d, com se l\u00b4ha anomenat sempre.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00e9s enll\u00e0 d\u00b4aquesta realitat objectiva, una \u00a0no tan tangible per\u00f2 fonamental: des dels seus inicis, \u201cl\u00b4Institut\u201d, s\u00b4ha considerat un centre p\u00fablic i el professorat n\u00b4ha defensat i ha fet seus els trets identificadors com agenda de valors a preservar: ensenyament no autoritari, amb acceptaci\u00f3 del pluralisme, una proximitat relacional, una ferma voluntat de renovaci\u00f3 en l\u00b4\u00e0mbit pedag\u00f2gic, oferir oportunitats per a tothom i concebre el centre com una suma conjunta de compromisos del professorat, pares i mares d\u00b4alumnes i personal d\u00b4administraci\u00f3 i serveis.<\/p>\n<p>Trets que a la manera d\u00b4objectius a treballar han persistit i persisteixen enmig dels canvis normatius i nous plans d\u00b4estudis, en el decurs \u00a0d\u00b4aquests 50 anys que van des del tardofranquisme, passant per la transici\u00f3 democr\u00e0tica i el desplegament de l\u00b4autonomia recuperada fins a als nous temps\u00a0 d\u00b4avui oberts a noves perspectives.
