  1. The<\/span><\/span><\/span>Seventh English Competition for Catalan Schools<\/span><\/span><\/span>(THE FONIX 2014), designed to promote the use of English among school students will start <\/span><\/span><\/span>on Saturday 1st March at 12:00 midday <\/strong><\/span><\/span>for the regional stage.<\/span><\/span>Participation is free. The competition is financed exclusively by the organisers (International House Barcelona and the Fundaci\u00f3 Catalana de l’Esplai) and the sponsors (Cambridge University Press, Cambridge ESOL Examinations and, and Netlanguages). The competition also receives support from the<\/span><\/span><\/span>Secretaria General de Pol\u00edtiques Educatives del Departament d’Ensenyament de la Generalitat de Catalunya<\/span><\/span><\/span>(the Department of Education of the Government of Catalonia) for the promotion of the use of English in schools.<\/span><\/span><\/span>The objective of the competition is to select a finalist from each of the first two stages: local, territorial and the winners at the final stage.<\/span><\/span><\/span>The exercises in all the stages of the competition will consist of writing tasks containing a variety of activities on vocabulary, reading and writing. In the final stage of the competition, there will also be an oral section in the test.<\/span><\/span><\/span>Our participants for <\/span><\/span><\/span>The Fonix 2014<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span> are:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
