La mostra, en una primera etapa, \u00e9s sotmesa a alta temperatura mitjan\u00e7ant un plasma ( 8000 K). Amb aix\u00f2 s&#8217;aconsegueix trencar els enlla\u00e7os qu\u00edmics dels \u00e0toms presents en la mostra i ionitzar-los. Aquests ions seguidament s\u00f3n sotmesos a camps electromagn\u00e8tics que provoquen la separaci\u00f3 dels mateixos en funci\u00f3 de la relaci\u00f3 massa\/carrega. Aix\u00ed , els diferents ions arriben al detector separats i llestos per poder ser quantificats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A causa dels baixos l\u00edmits de detecci\u00f3 de la t\u00e8cnica \u00e9s recomanable la instal\u00b7laci\u00f3 dels equips en sales netes (sales blanques) amb un control exhaustiu de la neteja precisament per evitar problemes de contaminaci\u00f3 de mostres.
