A 2011 Honors graduate, Cheasequah conducted neurobiological studies on the genetics and development of the zebrafish nervous system under the direction of Dr. James Jontes in the Department of Neuroscience. She has presented her research at the 9th International Conference on Zebrafish Development and Genetics in Madison, Wisconsin, and has co-authored papers appearing in Neuroscience and The Journal of Cell Biology. A Land Grant Scholar, she was a member of the OSU Spanish Conversation Club, a Spanish tutor, and a volunteer with youth organizations abroad through the LIFE Argentina program.
Cheasequah has been awarded a Fulbright Full Grant to Spain to conduct developmental biology research. She will continue to explore her zebrafish research at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park in order to help develop therapies for human hearing loss. She eventually plans to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience
