Mitjan\u00e7ant l\u2019observaci\u00f3 de caracter\u00edstiques com el color, la textura i la duresa, aplicaran els coneixements te\u00f2rics adquirits a classe per classificar correctament les mostres. Aquest proc\u00e9s fomenta el pensament cr\u00edtic i el m\u00e8tode cient\u00edfic, ja que hauran de seguir un raonament l\u00f2gic i sistem\u00e0tic per arribar a una conclusi\u00f3. A m\u00e9s, experimentar en primera persona com es fa la classificaci\u00f3 de les roques els permet entendre millor la geologia i la seva import\u00e0ncia en la vida quotidiana.
