Solen comptar amb un conjunt de regles que estipulen quines accions i mecanismes poden emprar els jugadors per a avan\u00e7ar en el joc. Recursos habituals en els jocs de rol s\u00f3n fitxes on es descriu als jugadors i sistemes d&#8217;atzar per a la resoluci\u00f3 d&#8217;accions com ara les tirades de daus.
