The Gingerbread cookie! 🍪
This December, the Magic Box visited our classrooms again. Both groups went together to discover what was hiding inside.
In the past years, the Magic Box brought us a Snowman in I4, Santa Claus in I5, and Rudolph last year.
So… what would it be this time? When we opened it, we found a gingerbread cookie!
The English teachers told us a long and exciting story:
An old man and an old woman live together in a house in the forest. The old woman bakes a gingerbread cookie with a head, two eyes, a nose, a mouth, arms and legs. She puts it in the oven. Suddenly, she hears a little voice saying: “Open the door!” When she opens the oven, the cookie jumps out and starts running.
“Stop!” shout the old man and the old woman, but the gingerbread man doesn’t stop.
“You can’t catch me! I’m the Gingerbread Man!”
First, he meets a cow. “Stop! I want to eat you!” shouts the cow.
But the gingerbread man keeps running: “You can’t catch me!”
Then he meets a horse. “Stop! I want to eat you!” But again, he runs very fast: “You can’t catch me!”
Finally, he meets a fox. The fox says: “Stop, I don’t want to eat you. I want to be friends.”
But the gingerbread man keeps running… until he finds a river. He can’t swim!
The fox says: “I can help you. Sit on my tail.” Then: “Sit on my back.”
Then: “Sit on my nose.” And when they reach the other side, the fox jumps up, opens his mouth and… eats the gingerbread man!
We enjoyed this exciting story very much! Everyone shared their favourite part and drew it. Then we drew the story sequence so we could learn it well and explain it to our families.
After that, we thought about the sentence “I can run faster than…” and we wrote and illustrated our own ideas. We got very funny answers like:
“I can run faster than a robot!”, “I can run faster than my baby brother!”,
“I can run faster than a superhero!”
Finally, we learned the recipe to make gingerbread cookies, so we can try baking them at home!
