Un triangle rectangle \u00e9s el triangle que t\u00e9 un angle recte (). Als costats que formen l&#8217;angle recte se&#8217;ls crida catets i al costat restant hipotenusa. Doncs b\u00e9, el teorema de Pit\u00e0gores relaciona la hipotenusa amb els dos catets. Anem ara a descobrir aquesta relaci\u00f3. Imaginem un triangle rectangle, per exemple de catets i cm i amb una hipotenusa d&#8217;cm, i dibuixem un quadrat sobre cadascun dels seus costats. S&#8217;utilitzen per mesurar la dist\u00e0ncia recorreguda per vehicles com autom\u00f2bils o bicicletes. Encara que ara s\u00f3n digitals en el seu origen eren mec\u00e0nics. Es tracta d&#8217;un instrument grec descrit per primera vegada per <strong>Vitruvi <\/strong>entorn de l&#8217;any 27 abans de Crist. Va ser inventat al segle III a. C. per Arqu\u00edmedes, del que rep el seu nom, encara que existeixen hip\u00f2tesi que ja era utilitzat en l&#8217;Antic Egipte. Es basa en un cargol que es fa girar dins d&#8217;un cilindre buit, situat sobre un pla inclinat, i que permet elevar el cos o fluid situat per sota de l&#8217;eix de gir. Des de la seva invenci\u00f3 fins ara s&#8217;ha emprat per al bombament. Hier\u00f3, sorpr\u00e8s, va sol\u00b7licitar a Arquimedes que realitz\u00e9s una demostraci\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>Van acordar que l&#8217;objecte a moure fos un vaixell de l&#8217;armada del rei, ja que Hier\u00f3 creia que aquest no podria treure de la d\u00e0rsena i portar-se a dic sec sense l&#8217;ocupaci\u00f3 d&#8217;un gran esfor\u00e7 i nombrosos homes.
