After discovering the importance of flowers<\/strong> and the relationship between flowers and insects, we became quite curious about flowers! They are very beautiful but we do not know many of their names in our language\u2026. imagine in English!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To discover some of the names<\/strong>, we were faced with a challenge\u2026 could we discover<\/strong> the name of some flowers by reading their descriptions<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were not convinced at first, but we realized that reading a text in English is just a matter of putting into practice some simple strategies<\/strong>.\u00a0
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first strategy, and quite obvious, is to identify the topic<\/strong> and activate<\/em> the vocabulary<\/strong> that may appear. If we are reading about flowers\u2026 the flower<\/strong> parts<\/strong> must appear in the texts! To recall the vocabulary and familiarize<\/strong> with its written<\/strong> form<\/strong> (you know that English words are written very differently!), we played a game<\/a> on the screen. It was very fun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After, it was time to work in<\/strong> pairs<\/strong> to read<\/strong> the texts<\/strong> and match the names to the correct pictures.\u00a0 Knowing the parts of the flower and identifying<\/strong> words<\/strong> that we know very well like colours<\/strong> and numbers<\/strong>, we could do the activity with no important difficulties. Another<\/strong> strategy<\/strong> some of us used was finding<\/strong> words<\/strong> in catalan that are very similar<\/strong> to English<\/strong>!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we discovered, it is not necessary to know all the words<\/strong> in a text to understand its general idea. Follow these strategies and try to name the flowers in the picture. It is not as difficult as it may seem!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
