As you know, once a week we read books in English<\/strong>. We decide the book we want to read from the English library<\/strong> where we can find books of all kinds of genres<\/strong>: picture books, comics, short adapted novels, magazines, cook books and other non-fiction books like biographies, encyclopedias and other scientific books.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choosing a book to read is a very important decision\u2026 You have to read the title<\/strong>, look at the pictures<\/strong> and read the blurb<\/strong> to see if it is interesting for you. In the case of reading for pleasure in English there is another aspect you have to consider: the complexity of language.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>
<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In order to have fun<\/strong> when reading, we need to get a book that is just a bit above our level<\/strong> of competence so we can put into practice the reading strategies<\/strong> we are learning in class and understand the general meaning<\/strong> of the texts. We sometimes need to use the dictionary <\/strong>to understand words but, normally, looking at the images<\/strong> and the key words<\/strong> is enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we are the oldest in the school, we are in charge of making recommendations<\/strong> to our school mates to help them to do with the books in English. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we finish reading a book, we complete a short card with the basic information<\/strong> about the book. We use templates<\/strong> to write the book summary<\/strong> and we give our opinion <\/strong>about the book and the level of language<\/strong>. By doing so, we not only think about what we have just read, we share our opinions<\/strong> about reading and share enthusiasm<\/strong> while practising our writing skills<\/strong> in a meaningful context. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
