As you know, Tanits have a very important mission<\/strong>: organizing the autumn activity of making \u201cpanellets<\/strong>\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We agreed on the recipe<\/strong> but\u2026 can we recognise <\/strong>that same recipe in English<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had a set of dessert recipes<\/strong> among which we had to locate the \u201cpanellets\u201d one<\/strong>. Difficult? Not at all!\u00a0 Working in small groups, we discovered that every Tanit used a different strategy<\/strong> to do the task: looking at the numbers, finding the key words <\/strong>(almonds and sugar) in the text or eliminating recipes when we discovered ingredients that are not necessary in panellets<\/strong> (Milk- als panellets no hi ha llet!, aquesta no \u00e9s!<\/em>). Matching each recipe with its corresponding image was a bit more complicated but not impossible using the strategies we have shared.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

When we discovered the recipe it was time to read it more carefully and understand all the steps<\/strong>. Since last year we cooked pancakes in class, we were familiar<\/strong> with some vocabulary and it was quite easy to recognise words<\/strong> like MIX<\/strong> and ADD<\/strong>. We also discovered new words<\/strong> like SMASH <\/strong>and BAKE<\/strong>.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you know these words<\/strong> in Catalan<\/strong>?\u00a0 Just do like we did in class to guess the meaning<\/strong>: use what you already know <\/strong>about the recipe<\/strong> and the images<\/strong> to help you understand the text. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
