La hip\u00f2tesi de Gaia<\/strong> (o teoria de Gaia) postula que el planeta Terra i els seus \u00e9ssers vius funcionem com un \u00fanic superorganisme viu<\/strong> que s’autoregula.<\/div>\n

Aquest sistema mant\u00e9 activament les condicions f\u00edsiques i qu\u00edmiques (com la temperatura i la composici\u00f3 de l’atmosfera) estables i aptes per a la vida.<\/div>\n

La idea va ser desenvolupada pel qu\u00edmic James Lovelock<\/strong> l’any 1969 i posteriorment ampliada per la bi\u00f2loga Lynn Margulis.<\/strong><\/div>\n

Pren el seu nom de Gaia, la deesa grega que personifica la Terra.<\/div>\n
