The Mollet del Vall\u00e8s Adult Training Center has organized a guided visit in English to the Menhir of our city, on December 4, as a complementary activity to the English 1 group classes in the morning. The day was splendid, although it was quite cold. On 17th December,\u00a0 ANG 2 F1 M enjoyed\u00a0 this tour, too.<\/p>\n

The Menhir, located at Jordi Sol\u00e9 Tura Literary Garden of the Municipal Library, is one of the most well-known and visited places in Mollet del Vall\u00e8s, in the center of the city and within a public park.<\/p>\n

The visit was guided by Marina, a Fundaci\u00f3 Municipal Joan Abell\u00f3 guide, who told us about the discovery of the Menhir in 2009 in the Parc de les Pruneres while they were working on its construction, the meaning of the word menhir and its dimensions and weight (4.90 m x110 cm, and 6 tons). It was also interesting to know that its composition is granitic rock that is not found in Mollet del Vall\u00e8s or nearby towns.<\/p>\n

The piece has been dated between 3600 and 2500 BC, therefore, the find expands our knowledge of Catalonia in the Neolithic period, and is the most important in relation to the rest of the menhirs found in Baix Vall\u00e8s, as well as one of the most important finds in southern Europe in recent years.<\/p>\n

The guide made our visit interesting and enjoyable and everyone in the class group was very grateful for the initiative of our English teachers to offer us a different, dynamic and instructive English session.<\/p>\n

El Centre de Formaci\u00f3 de persones adultes de Mollet del Vall\u00e8s, ha organitzat una visita guiada en llengua anglesa al Menhir de la nostra ciutat, el dia 4 de desembre, com activitat complement\u00e0ria a les classes del grup d\u2019Angl\u00e8s 1 del mat\u00ed. El dia ha estat espl\u00e8ndid, tot i que feia for\u00e7a fred.<\/p>\n

El Menhir, situat al Jard\u00ed Literari de la Biblioteca Municipal \u201cJordi Sol\u00e9 Tura\u201d, \u00e9s un dels llocs m\u00e9s coneguts i visitats de Mollet del Vall\u00e8s, al centre de la ciutat i dins d\u2019un parc p\u00fablic.
\nLa visita ha estat guiada per la Marina, documentalista de la Fundaci\u00f3 Municipal Joan Abell\u00f3, qui ens ha parlat de la troballa del Menhir l\u2019any 2009 al Parc de les Pruneres mentre feien les obres de la seva construcci\u00f3, el significat de la paraula menhir i les seves mides i pes (4,90 m x 110 cm, i 6 tones). Tamb\u00e9 ha estat interessant saber que la seva composici\u00f3 \u00e9s de roca gran\u00edtica que no es troba a Mollet del Vall\u00e8s ni a poblacions properes.<\/p>\n

La pe\u00e7a ha estat datada entre el 3600 i el 2500 a. c., per tant, la troballa amplia els nostres coneixements sobre Catalunya en el per\u00edode Neol\u00edtic, i \u00e9s la m\u00e9s important en relaci\u00f3 amb la resta de menhirs trobats al Baix Vall\u00e8s, aix\u00ed com una de les troballes m\u00e9s importants del sud d\u2019Europa dels darrers anys.<\/p>\n

La guia ha fet interessant i amena la nostra visita i tothom del grup classe hem estat molts agra\u00efts per la iniciativa del professorat ;angl\u00e8s de l\u2019escola d\u2019oferir-nos una sessi\u00f3 d\u2019angl\u00e8s diferent, din\u00e0mica i instructiva.<\/p>\n
