Abans d\u2019arribar a la representaci\u00f3 gr\u00e0fica o a l\u2019abstracci\u00f3, necessiten tocar, experimentar, manipular i observar. \u00c9s a trav\u00e9s d\u2019aquest proc\u00e9s que el pensament es va organitzant i esdevenen possibles les idees m\u00e9s complexes.<\/p>\n<p>Autors com Jean Piaget expliquen que els infants aprenen construint significats a partir de l\u2019acci\u00f3; primer viuen els conceptes de manera concreta i, progressivament, en fan una interpretaci\u00f3 mental m\u00e9s abstracta.<br \/>\nJerome Bruner tamb\u00e9 descriu aquest cam\u00ed: de l\u2019etapa enactiva (aprendre fent), a l\u2019ic\u00f2nica (representant), fins a arribar a la simb\u00f2lica (pensament abstracte).<br \/>\nI pedagogues com Maria Montessori recorden que la manipulaci\u00f3 \u00e9s una porta d\u2019entrada natural al coneixement perqu\u00e8 \u00abla m\u00e0 \u00e9s l\u2019instrument de la intel\u00b7lig\u00e8ncia\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Quan els infants utilitzen materials manipulatius, experimenten, proven, s\u2019equivoquen, rectifiquen i descobreixen, desenvolupant aix\u00ed habilitats cognitives, motrius i socials.
