In the mornings we start with English at 9am (1st B on Tuesdays and 1st A on Fridays), the English teacher Anna reads aloud a traditional English tale to students. We enjoy it a lot! We know the benefits of reading aloud to children and the importance of modeling, listening and speaking in these early stages.

So far, we have read The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and currently, The very Hungry Caterpillar, great literary classics that some students recognize as having read them in Catalan or Spanish at home.

Once we have read the story in class, we watch the video of the story in the PDI, listen to the related song and do a two-session mini project. In the first one, we carry out a reading comprehension and we learn about the vocabulary, the characters,… and in the other, we build a craft related to the story. Below we show you the super broom made by the students related to the story “Room on the Broom”.
