At school we support the campaign #NOMOREMATILDAS to celebrate the International day of women and girls in science. This phenomenon, known as Matida effect in honour of Matilda Joslyn Gage, who was the first activist to denounce it, highlights the injustice of ignoring the findings of brilliant women scientists throughout history.<\/p>\n
During this week at English lesson we have discussed about the role of women in science and what it would have happened if Einstein or other male scientists had been born a female. Then we have discovered that there were many women who helped advance science. In groups we have researched about a female scientist and her discoveries, findings and contributions to science. Then they have presented each scientist to the rest of the students.<\/p>\n
In this way, these examples can arouse scientific interest among our girls. It is never too late to be inspired!<\/p>\n

Aquest fenomen, que es coneix com a efecte Matilda en honor a Matilda Joslyn Gage, la primera activista en denunciar-ho, assenyala la injust\u00edcia que ha ignorat les troballes de brillants cient\u00edfiques al llarg de la hist\u00f2ria.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Hem reflexionat sobre el paper de la dona en la ci\u00e8ncia i sobre qu\u00e8 hauria passat si Einstein o altres cient\u00edfics haguessin nascut dona. Llavors hem descobert que hi ha hagut moltes dones que han fet avan\u00e7ar la ci\u00e8ncia. En grups hem fet recerca sobre aquestes cient\u00edfiques, cada grup sobre una i despr\u00e9s l’hem presentada a la resta.<\/p>\n D’aquesta manera, aquests exemples poden despertar la vocaci\u00f3 cient\u00edfica en les nostres nenes que, fins que fa poc, se’ls ha fet creure que la ci\u00e8ncia era cosa d’homes.
