It\u2019s carried out in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, <\/span><b>What is <\/b><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><b>CLIL<\/b><\/span><b>?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CLIL stands for <\/span><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><b>Content and Language Integrated Learning<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and refers to teaching subjects such as science, history and geography to students through a foreign language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some important facts about CLIL are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><b>Language as the vehicle<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Language occurs naturally in the discourse frames associated with the conceptual content, and as a result of the communicative exchanges required by task-based methodology.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><b>Activity types<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: There are four activity types best suited to CLIL practice.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a) Activities to enhance <\/span><b>peer communication<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">b) Activities to help develop <\/span><b>reading strategies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">c) Activities to guide <\/span><b>student production<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">d) Activities to engage higher <\/span><b>cognitive skills<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(make students think \u2013 offer a variety of procedural opportunities for employing a range of operations)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, <\/span><span style=\"color: #ffcc00;\"><b>hands-on activities<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are the ones mostly used in CLIL sessions. <\/span><b>Students manipulate, experiment, and come to conclusions from classroom activities.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> And the contents worked on are related to those working with the teacher in the science lessons.
