We watched this movie in English Speaking and listening class and some of the students of the group provide their views and opinions about the movie:
Mariona:”This film surprised me because I’m a student and I had a very different view of the school. With this film I could see the point of view of the teacher and I had never imagined like that.”
Carla:”My opinion about this film is that is a very realistic and hard film. It talks about real situations where a public school in the United States.”
Irene:”In my opinion, this film is very realistic, because you realize clearly the situation of the high schools, and you can see the pessimistic reality that you don’t usually see in your high schools, because teachers often want to make a good impression to their children”
Laura: “This film helps you to understand and feel the problems of teachers and their points of view”
Bruno: “I liked this film because it breaks with the topic of an formal teacher introducing one who cares about students life and future and make us feel his point of view of a broken system”
Alon: ” The movie was very tough. Its scenes are very explicit and like real life. It shows the bad part in the life of the teacher. I liked it but i wouldn’t watch it again because it is not my style of movies but it is not boring.”
Aleix: ”Detachment is a tough movie to see and very realistic. I say this because of the scenes and the background story. The film actually explains the hard life of the substitute teacher and how the students are empty inside them.”
Alex: “the movie reflects the poor, empty and bare relationship between each human being. It’s a mirror of today’s cruelty with each other and made me feel sad about it, about the sad and monotonous life they have.”
