Last Wednesday the 22nd March, the Foreign Languages Department organized a talk by Irish speaker Ellen Whelan. The talk was addressed to 3rd ESO students and it was held at the high-school gym. The public enjoyed a very interesting general presentation on Ireland and they discovered a lot of curious facts about the Celtic country, which helped them enlarge the knowledge of what they had already done in class. Following a brilliant and engaging explanation, Ellen focussed on different cultural aspects and, with the help of some representative images and videos, she provided a wide, enlightening view of the Irish historical background, the lively music and traditional instruments played there, some challenging popular sports our students did not know about, the typical food and its ingredients, the languages spoken, or the scope of Irish literature, amongst other topics. All in all, the lecture was a success and the feedback of the audience was very positive. Go raibh maith agat, Ellen! |
